August 1989

Mid-State Cruizers car club was chartered by local automotive enthusiasts interested in uniting with others for the purpose of appreciating and preserving automobiles of interest.

The original club name of “Mid-State Muscle Cars” was changed early on to “Mid-State Cruizers” as an open invitation to auto enthusiasts of every persuasion.

August 1990

The club organized the first Atascadero Lake Car Show to raise funds for the local community. It has been an annual family event ever since.

1994

The club members, with the assistance of many local businesses, restored a 1955 Chevy Police car and donated it to the Atascadero Police Department. The car is used in the department’s DARE program and participates in many events each year.

Through the years the Mid-State Cruizers Car Club has raised a substantial amount of money for the benefit of our community. Beneficiaries of past car shows have included:

  • “Loaves and Fishes”
  • The Women’s Shelter
  • Atascadero Lake Pavilion
  • the light around the lake
  • Atascadero High School Auto Shop Program
  • Various youth and charitable groups.
